How often do you handle your leo?

I hold Toon a few times a day for 5 to 10 minutes each time. And she is the one who decides to be held. Every time I put my hand in there, she gets on it and crawls up my arm. Her little toes tickle! I think it depends on the gecko. If she didn't want to, I'd never try to hold her. She got tame fast. She was a scared tiny baby when I got her the beginning of February and one day in the middle of March or so she decided to crawl onto my hand and she's been sociable ever since. I'm so greatful for that :)

at first, she wasnt big on handleing or touching- a little more paranoid even than your average leo- but now, just a few months later, she WANTS to be rubed ( she will arche her back like a cat ! ) and out of her cage every night.

it all depends on the gecko, the owner, the circumstances and time.

one wonderful tidbit i learned about leos: they are unique in that they actualy will imprint on an owner almost like a mamal would and can sence moods- be sure to keep that in mind!

Neat! I believe that, though a lot of the experts out there would disagree vehemently. Where did you learn this tidbit?

Do you grab a holdof you Leo gently or how exactly doyou pick them up. Mine will sit on my hand but I'm afraid to grab him to hold him

Depends on how much time I have that day and which animal it is I am in the mood to take out at that particular moment. Some of them I can have out for up to an hour and they will sit on my shoulder or curl up on the back of my neck for the beloved body heat when I'm on the computer. Others will cling to the front of my shirt, or I take them downstairs and watch tv with them. If they happen to be very active and running around like crazy geckos, then they're usually out for about 15 min then I put them back. lol. Hard to get anything done on the computer when they are running acorss the keyboard of trying to peek behind the moniter. One of the girls, Pandora, for some odd reason will even take it as far as will do all of the above then race down my arm when I put her back up on my shoulder to sit on my hand that is on the mouse and go for a ride as I move it. lol. Do you realize how hard it is to game with a gecko sitting on your mouse hand??? haha. Little nub.

I guess my new SHCT got a little huffy with my g/f this morning. She pulled out their tub in the rack, and picked up the hide she was in exposing her. Apparently she jumped kinda sideways into her hand. Startled her! ADORABLE! :) I knew she was a bit fiesty the first time we saw her.. hehe But I've been trying to let them settle in a bit before we handle them much. One thing I've been doing is offering worms by hand.. Trying to associate my hand with yummy worms! Rather than just some big gangly thing coming down from the sky and abducting them.. :)
