We got a young leo two months ago, and were unfortunately not educated about calcium and vitamins. We have been feeding her a few crickets and a waxworms each day, but no calcium.
She has grown fine and shedded twice, but in the last week has seemed lethargic and has not eaten in three days. (She did just shed five days ago). I noticed that she walks slowly and her front legs seem weak -- she doesn't raise herself off the ground and instead sort of drags her belly.
Can MBD develop this fast? I dusted the crickets tonight with Tetrafauna-ReptoCal calcium with D3 (the D3 is listed at 13,700 IU/kg), but she would not eat. I got her to lick a little from my finger, and have added a bottle cap of it in the viv.
I wish I had researched better before going to a pet store and getting a leo. Any thoughts?
