How steady should the temps be?

I've just finished making my homemade incubator for my Leo's.

I used a polstyrene box(I think in the USA you say styrofoam? Or something?)

In the bottom of the box i have put an inch or two of water. I am heating the water up with a 25w aqarium heater set to 30 degrees C (about 86 F)

I have put in a box of vermiculite (sp?) and put a temp prob in that.
It has been running for a few hours now and the temps seem to be sticking at around 28 - 29 Degrees C (about 83 F).

How stable does the temp need to be because it is moving around a little bit, I think given time it might stabalise a little more. But is a 1 to 2 degree variation going to damage the babies?

And do you all think my incubator sounds good to go? Thankyoo x

I'll let you know ahead of time, if your just going to use vermiculite, you may want to look into Albey's Method. I tried using just vermiculite and lost quite a few eggs either from too dry (eggs denting) or keeping it too wet (eggs molding). Albey's Method helped me out quite a bit, and the only reason I say this is because I too have a homemade incubator.

In my experience a 1-2 degree fluctuation is not a problem. I also recommend Albey's method with perlite.
