How to give tiny doses of panacur?

Hey guys. Our 14g leo was diagnosed with pinworms and was prescribed .01 ml of panacur which I was given in a 1cc TB syringe to be given once now and once in two weeks. Trouble is, .01cc is a tiny dose, so small in fact that it just barely fills the opening of the syringe, half of it was in the cap. He's all over the place so giving it to him is darn near impossible, and with such a tiny dose we lost it all on the first attempt. Any suggestions? We paid $10 for this tiny dose and didn't get any in his mouth. Thanks!

Hey there...

I suggest calling the vet who prescribed the Panacur and explaining the situation to them, and requesting another dose at no charge.

Anyone who is new to reptiles, or new to giving medication, should be given a demonstration. Ask for one.

The clinics I worked in would have been happy to give the gecko the panacur for you for a "tech appointment" fee. Since he's only getting it twice, this might be worth it. I know how fun it isn't to try and wrangle meds into an uncooperative reptile.

i would suggest getting a cocktail stisk, cut the pointy end off (for safety)
get the amount needed on the end and blot it around his lips, the hate things on their lips so he should lick it off.

If its to small to hold while doing this I sometimes put a dry flannel in a Tupperware box so they don't slide around. and its just a case of waiting until hes in the write position to dab it on.
might take a few attempts this way but just be patient.

You can get syringes at the vet's office or at most pharmacies. I usually just dab a drop on the tip of their nose and they lick it off.

The medicine was already in syringes but it was such a small dose it was all in the tip, the plunger was bottomed out. It was literally one drop. I ended up taking them in to the vet...no charge.
