How to not breed all Females?

Ok I am thinking about only breeding 3-4 females this season. I have 7 females I could breed, but I don't wish to produce more babies than I can sell/keep! So my question is, when the female ovulates I will not pair up with a male, but will she still produce and lay eggs? I know egg laying takes a lot out of the females, so I don't want them going through that when my plan is not to breed some of them.

Sometimes the female will still lay eggs even if she isn't introduced to a male. The eggs of course will not be fertile. You can candle them to make sure. As far as not having all females, if you incubate the eggs around 84-85 degrees it should give you an opportunity for both males and females. Also something to consider is that once you breed your male to your female it is possible for that female to store semen and continue to lay eggs from the initial introduction.

OOps, I think I wasn't very clear. I know how to incubate for males vs. females (but thank you for the info.) I was just stating that some of my females I will not mate with males as I don't want to produce too many babies. I just don't want the females I don't breed to continue to lay eggs all season as this is so hard on their bodies.

I would just keep them separated. Like not even on the same rack. Even if you don't want them to lay eggs and you don't breed them there is still a possibility.

I have never yet had a female leo that was not bred to a male produce eggs. It doesn't mean it can't happen, but it's not that likely.

Does anyone know if a female that has not been breed, yet produced infertile eggs. Could she become egg bound? I'm also not going to breed some of my females. Does anyone have any recommendations in how to help avoid a female becoming egg bound.

Most females that haven't been bred don't produce eggs. Females that are in good health are much less likely to become egg bound. I feel that the probability of a gecko that's not been with a male to produce eggs and then also become egg bound is pretty low.
