How to prepare for a new female

Ok I have a 20L and in it I have a male and a female. I should be ordering my new female today. If all goes well I will have 2 females and 1 male in this new tank. I only have 2-3 hides in this tank. (Because my geckos use the same hide.) This female will be at breeding weight when I get her so I will be putting in a laybox. Will I need any other hide to go along with the laybox?

Questions:
1. Is 2-3 hides with a laybox enough hides?
2. How can I make a good laybox?
3. Should I leave the laybox in the cage or only if I know she will be laying eggs?

Thanks!!!!!

1. yes. I would have 3 and the laybox.

2. I take a plastic cotainer and cut a 3" circle on top, and then put 2" of substrate in there. I use eco earth.

3. yes, I do. It really doesn't matter though. I do so the female can get used to it and somtimes they'll go in there when they shed.

I atached a pic of the container I like to use as a laybox. Good Luck!:main_thumbsup:

in the laybox? I would recomed coco fiber, like eco earth. But if I had to pick paper towls or vermiculite I would pick vermiculite. I think female geckos like to dig and lay the eggs in the hole they dug up IMO. Oh, and one more thing take a lighter and the hole you cut out on the laybox burn the edges so there isn't any sharp edges :)

You should always quarintine an animal when you first get it, for at least 30 days, I like 60 more casue its not worth the risk of spreading anything it might have.
