i have always heard when they are in a warmer place they will chirp more. when we had ours in our room they wouldnt chirp alot and its like 74-78 in here but then they just started dying easy in here so i moved to the other part of the house where the ac isn't ran so during the night they chirp alot. but they dont bother with me the chirping i find it relaxing i guess being a country girl that rather be in the woods than in suburbania like i am now helps lol. good luck hopefully you can either switch feeders with your geckos, mine i can feed whatever they arent picky lol

Really?? If you figure out why let me know!!! LOL Are you using full grown crickets? Usually full grown males never shut up. I was buying 3/4" just for that reason but then I was going through too many .. I've read how easy they are to breed but don't really want to get into that, nasty stinky crawling chirping things :)

haha i just buy the largest ones at pets mart and they never chirp. but tomorrow im going to buy 500 3/4 crickets from lll reptile

you can try dubia roaches. they are great. no smell no noise and no escapees.:main_evilgrin: i have had my colony going for about 7 months and they are by far a better choice than crickets. i also use mealworms and superworms. i'm happy and my leo's are happy.

It is based off heat as sunshinegeckofarm said. The fan theory works because it cools them down, they probably don't like the wind either, but they won't chirp in temps low 70s and below. I keep adult crickets and they don't make any noise when the ambient temp stays in the 60s to low 70s.

We're just getting to the point in the southeast where the temps will get high enough for them to start chirping. But the reptiles are in their own room, so it doesn't really affect the rest of the house.

Id say go with the roaches, the crickets never shut up+ roaches live months at the same size if kept in the 70s, they dont eat each other, and get much bigger than crickets

Roaches are a million times better, I wish my family didn't banish my dubia roaches :( even thought I felt bad for them when I fed them, they have personality LOL

Mabye having a dim light on will make the crickets shut up? Sometimes my crested leaves one cricket behind and it will chirp forever but it always stops when the light turns on

Only one of my geckos will eat mealworms, none of them will eat small supers, they will only eat the odd waxworm on very rare occasion and roaches are illegal here. Not even my bearded dragons will eat mealworms, only supers, crickets and salad.

How do you tell the difference between male and female crickets? I just got three leopard geckos as an early Mother's Day present this past Sunday. I've been feeding them mealworms but they are hungry little buggers. I'm about to get my third 50 count container after work today. I want to feed them crickets as well but cricket chirping will NOT go over well in my house.

If you buy 3/4" crickets you shouldn't hear them, only the full grown ones chirp. For 3 geckos you could just buy two or three dozen at a time and use them up within a week.
