When i had Blaze at 6mths old the first 2 days she'd run quick in her tank, so on the 3rd day i managed to pick her up quickly from the back and put my finger's behind her front legs onto her body, i then sat down and held her and stroked her head and under her chin and since that day she's been great, i have her out every morning while cleaning her tank.
She's so carm now it's like looking at a different Leo.

Blowing on geckos?

Hmmm...I know that helps horses get used to your smell, but last time I checked...geckos aren't horses...

My method is mostly underhand picking up, reward with mealie. Make eye contact and speak quiet-like so they get used to the sound and feel of human. They also like hoodies, since it's like a natural cave and you are just the right temperature.

This isn't me, but this is exactly how Toon acts when I put my hand in her tank. Even if there's food around. When I talk to her, she runs out and tries to climb the glass to get to me. I know I'm probably being anthropomorphic, but I swear she is happy to see me!! http://youtu.be/eP6gtHawTUQ
