Im a confused on how breeders say that a certain gecko is het raptor. Some say 100% het raptor and others just say het raptor. Do they both mean they are 100% het raptor or is saying"het raptor" meaning theya re only poss. het raptor. Sorry if that is confusing. If you dont understand waht I am asking, Ill try to refrase it. Also, what is the chance of hatching a raptor if both parents are het raptor? I know how to do punnet squares and figure out percents, but im not sure if it is recessive, dominant, etc..

Thanks

raptor is many many traits combined into one morph.
Tremper albino
eclipse
"patternless stripe"
tangerine
carrot head
carrot tail

When people say 'raptor' they are usually only talking about eyes, meaning the albino gene + eclipse gene. These two genes when expressed togeather cause the gecko to have solid red eyes. Since both of these genes are recessive, yes, a gecko can be het for them. But the rest of the morph is more complicated than simple recessive genes. Het and 100% het are the same thing. A 66% het is a possible het, and that is what you would get when breeding two het raptors togeather and the babies are not raptor.

For your last part of the post, it all depends. If the parents are both albinos, then it is a 25% chance. If both parents are not albinos, then it is a 1 in 16 chance.

Thanks, I totally forgot they are more than one trait combined. What would produce raptors? Breeding a Raptor to a het raptor or raptorxraptor? Im not going to be producing raptors anytime soon, I just would like to understand everything better. Also, What would produce aptors? and what are the characteristics taht classify a raptor.

RAPTOR classifiys as= Red Eyed Patternless Tremper ORange, so when all those traits align you have a raptor.

The best odds of making raptors is obviously to breed to raptors together, but i have had great success thus far with raptor to het breedings. The raptor is a fun morph to play around with because of the many many possible outcomes.

Hope this helps

Ill probably "try" to purchase a raptor sometime later this year. I think it would be fun playing around with all the possibilities like you said.

Thanks for the responses.
