Well, funny you ask that! I was sending a package to New York this week and I spent a long time on the phone with UPS trying to find out what hub it would go through. They assured me that the only path they had for this route would go through Kentucky and NOT Illinois......guess what, it went through Illinois. The temperatures are much more extreme there, however they did arrive safely. Thankfully! Bottom line is, they may tell you and it still may not be correct.

I've noticed that almost everything we ship with FedEx goes through Tennessee regardless of where it's going. Houston to El Paso or Dallas...not before stopping in Tennessee!

Gosh...I hate that. I am not having the best of times with UPS. I worry about shipping out my babies in this weather to the people who have bought them. It's warm here, but up north it's COLD still...I think 50 at night is safe with a heat pack. Correct?

50 at night is totally fine with a heat pack. We have the same shipping conditions you guys do since we're also Gulf Coast. We can drop off packages until 8pm so we just activate the heat pack on the way so that it's just starting to activate when they're loading the plane.

Mallorie, it is starting to warm up here in PA. Hopefully it won't be too much longer until I can start getting geckos again. But remember, if you don't feel comfortable shipping in the weather, don't ship. You will just stress yourself out and possibly risk the gecko's life.

I agree with Greg. If you don't feel it's safe to ship, just don't do it.

The shipper's hubs depend on where the origin and destination of the shipment, as well as the shipper's loads and volume. The shippers will not be able to tell you with certainty which hub will be used.

Most UPS shipments will go through the worldwide air hub (WorldPort) in Louisville, KY on the Eastern side of the Rockies, and Ontario, CA on the West side. Occasionally, they will go through Rockford, Il. for destinations in the Northeastern states.

As a general rule, I will not ship when the overnight lows are below 38-40 degrees at ANY of the hubs.
