so lowes had a sale on this large all purpose storage closet. its 48x24x72. i just had to make some adjustments to accomodate tubs, but overrall i think it turned out nice. only came with three shelves so had some extras cut while i was there. still going to veneer the front edges of the extra shelves, and put down some contact paper, but its up and functional now. lemme know what you guys think...
i won't bore you with putting the standard unit together, but here you can see it assembled and where i added the back heat strip.
going to order more heat tape, but for now i ran some heat cable down the back of both sides as well
replaced the included plastic crappy shelf supports with 1/4" peg size metal supports. the standard holes weren't correctly spaced for my needs anyway, so it was just a matter of drilling out 1/4" holes where i needed them.
top two shelves on both sides are for hatchling racks, but as you can see the sterilite shoebox tubs are too wide to fit three across. the container store shoebox tubs are perfect size. need to pick up a few more of those
one side done...
still need to get some containter store tubs and get another shelf, but as you can see on the right side i adjusted the shelves temporarily to accomodate the larger sterilite shoebox tubs. pre-drilled some holes there to make it easier later to replace them and adjust the shelf spacing.
test fitting everything...
everything fit. all the leos tagged and moved in
rheostat and thermostat mounting
moved into its final location along with my other racks
still some tweaking to do, but for under 200 bucks including the unit, tubs, and tape, not a bad deal. and as you can see i still have room to add more shelves and tubs. this could easily handle about 60-70 container store shoebox hatchling tubs
