Just curious to know which is better for a humid hide? Entry from a hole on the side or a hole on the top. I'm making a new humid hide and I want it to last awhile!!!

Entry on the top is better because it prevents substrate from getting scattered about.
The down side is, if you make the hole too big (1 1/2 is good) you will get faster evaporation and have to mist it more often.

although this is true (Nats knows his stuff ;)) i've noticed my gecko can't get in when it's on the top. i don't know if it's just her or what. :main_huh: but either works well. if you're planning on using paper towels the substrate shouldn't matter. if you use moss, well, that's another story. :main_laugh:

I use paper towels now but I want to try some spagum moss since the paper towels dry out just way too fast. I just hope she finds out where the opening is if so I do plan to do it on top, Lol

I have side entrances, its easier to provide shade by covering the top with something (e.g. towel). But the downside is I have bits of coir all over the tank...

Not to worry :)
Your leo will find it.
Leos are very inquisitive by nature,
There isn't a square inch of space in the tank that hasnt been examined.

Even if you never see your leo out and about, while you sleep they inspect
everything :D

Just try changing a piece of furniture in their tank, and see what they do.
