Humid hide question....

So I recently started a new job at a grocery store. Our deli section has these square containers that are fantastic for humid hides. My question is with my thermostat sensor on the heat tape set for 95 degrees should I be concerned with monitoring the internal hide temp? It has about a 3/4 inch layer of vermiculate inside to hold humidity and they have room outside the hide to lay directly on the carpet.

Overall logic would say they will go wherever they are most comfortable obviously but should I raise the thermo setting slightly higher to adjust for this?

Usually the dry hide is on the warm side and gets measured for heat to make sure it's not too hot in there. The humid hide goes wherever there's room for it (in my opinion) so I don't think it's necessary to worry about the temp.

Well thanks for the response Aliza. I typically always keep my humid hides on the warm side of my tubs. I'm really surprised that only 1 response has been gotten in 24 hours. This site must have lost a fair amount of its community.

I think if your getting accurate surface temp around 93-95 on hot spot your fine. I try and keep my moist hide as close to the warm side as possible. I just watch behavior. If you notice a Leo only on the cool side or in a water dish, chances are you are running hot and dehydrating. My male rainwater I keep more on the warm side, he likes it warm, my female tends to move around a bit more in the different temp ranges and loves her moist hide. They will regulate themselves, so if you give them a good range and make them feel comfortable to go into any hide they want, your fine. So, after all that lol I think your good.
