could I use eco earth (shredded coconut stuff) for the moist hide? Or should I just continue with paper towels. I ask because I got some sitting around and am going to use some for my new Blue Beauty's humid hide.

sure can;D i use it for all mine, its alot easier to deal with then having to mist paper towel a few times a day@.@ ive never had a issue with impaction either. As long as you watch that no feeder bugs get in there your gecko wont eat any.

I use Terracotta and only have to wet it once every two weeks.

Terracotta how? The actual tile whole or broken up? My leo doesn't seem fond of the sphagnum moss so this could be a good possibility.

1) Use any water tight container with an entrance hole in the upper half.
2) Fill the bottom half with pea gravel.
3) Place a whole piece of unglazed terracotta on top of the pea gravel.
4) Pour water into the container until it is full to the terracotta (but not submerging the terracotta.

The terracotta will readily absorb and hold moisture, while the water below will keep the hide humid for weeks without water.
