Humid Hide: Which Is More Suited?

I got a ZooMed Repti-Shelter for my Leo and he loves it! It stays very humid if you put it on the warm side, and it's nice and dark.

Obviously for a humid hide, the ZooMed is the only product of the two that will work.

You can not put a damp substrate in a repti den, and even if you could, the heat from your UTH does not penetrate it. You can test it w/ a laser thermometer.

Dont feel stupid, their add is a little misleading.

If you can get the heat to penetrate that thing, my hat's off to you, I could not, unless I move it to the center of the UTH.

Anyway, it's too tight a fit in their to put any moist moss and such, so it's really just a regular hide, not a moist one.

The repti shelter is like a big bowl w/ a lid that has a hole on top.
It's easy to fill w/ any substrate you want, and it will stay moist and steamy (when I open mine, there is always condensation on the lid) for a few days. I have 3 of them, and they make wonderful humid hides.

Thanks. I just got the Repti-Shelter today, but I don't think my new gecko has noticed it yet. She went out for a stroll on it but didn't find the entrance. :main_laugh:
