I've noticed that there seems to be no preference to the cool or warm side for my leos when it comes to the humidity hide. When I get my rack system started I plan on keeping the humid hides on the warm side but right now I have most of the humid hides on the cool side and my geckos are in there frequently. However, if you do keep it on the warm side you will have to mist the substrate more often because the water will evaporate quicker from the heat.

I don't even have one and they do fine. When I see they'll be shedding I up the humidity in the cage and I spray them lightly. They've never had shedding issues.

New Set Up...

Well, I was checking this section to see which side was preferred for the moist hides for our new terratium we're just setting up and preparing for our new geckos and obviously did not find a conclusive answer! LOL! :main_laugh:
Seems its about an even split and pretty much personal preference of what the owner finds that their particular gecko likes.
I've also been watching and reading all the instructions everywhere online about making a moist hide and I have to say I'm a bit squeemish about cutting a plastic container to make a hide because I'm concerned about the geckos getting cut on the edges. I finally found a moist hide "container" sold online that looks like it would work very well and was wondering if any of you have used this product and have any feedback about them? Any info would be appreciated because I don't want to invest in these if they really don't work that well. Here is the link to the product in question. :main_robin:

I picked warm side. I don't usually put it directly over the hot spot but closer to that side then the middle. I would check everything everyday anyways and always had a spray bottle full on hand to add more moisture if needed. Really didn't mind as its not that much added work.

As far as cutting the plastic goes, after I make the cut I take a lighter and melt the edges a little bit so that they're blunt and smooth.
