Humidity and heat?

How can I tell if my humidity is good? Currently my delicup has not fogged up inside or anything. I was told by a breeder a good way to keep the humidity good is by putting a needle size hole in the delicup, then place it in the incubator and then put a deli cup with no lid inside the incubator. Is that a good way? And lets say my perilite in the deli cup gets dry, how can i moisture it up? can I just take the lid of the deli cup and spray it with water while the eggs are still in it or should I take the eggs out, spray the perlite, then put the eggs back in? Also if inside the incubator is between83-85 F., would the temp in the deli cup be hotter or colder? Or would it be ok? And is it ok if my temp keep fluctuating from 85 to 83F? and vise versa? I'm new at this, so ima be asking a lot of questions. lol

Thanks

Well, I can tell you what I do. Last season I put a hygrometer, one of those cheap ones that zoomed makes, into one of my incubator containers and found out that the humidity runs 80-90%. This was toward the end of the season when I hadn't added any water to my perlite since the beginning. So I believe the humidity holds even when there is no sign of condensation. I will be changing the perlite in my incubator containers each time I hatch all its eggs, so I'll be refreshing the moisture more frequently this season. I keep all my incubator containers without airholes. I have my temperature and thermostat probes resting on top of one of the incubator containers and am incubating at about 81-82. I also get about a 2 degree fluctuation even with a proportional thermostat. I have had a small proportion of geckos with eye and leg problems but do not think it is due to incubator problems.

Alrite. Cool, thanks for the info. Ima buy one of those hydrometers.
