Humidity Levels?

I'm not sure what to aim for in attaining a healthy humidity level for my AFT. I've read what seems like a million care sheets and can't find any concrete information. Some say 50%-60% and mist every day, others say it's fine just having a moist hide, others don't mention it at all. I'm worried it's too dry in his cage. The humidity level has read between 18%-20% but he does have a hide that's moist, even though he isn't using it yet. (Which is mostly because he's not settled into his new habitat yet because I just got him today.)

Anyone have any input/suggestions? What do you guys do?

i recall reading that juvies should be lighted misted every day, adults every other day and that both should always have a humid hide.

OK, so I have misted his entire cage once a day and the level seems to be staying around 40%. He found his humid hide last night when his light went off and he came out, and I've been keeping that wet, too.

When you say he needs misting, do you mean directly spray the gecko?

The humidity levels range between 18-30% even though I'm misting twice a day. He's not using his moist hide either.

Should I worry about this? Maybe I should buy a humidifier for the room?

But what if he isn't using it? I'm wondering if it's too cold for him. I keep it right on top of the heat pad, and below the moonlight lamp for optimal warmth, but he still doesn't seem to go in it. Should I assume if he's feeling in need of humidity, he's smart enough to utilize the hide?
