Still chasing my tail a bit

Is this correct?: Hybino= Hypo+ Albino

Do I understand this correctly (and it seems like a basic concept)? A hybino is a SHTCT that is het for albino? That does mean that the albino is not expressed at all right? And how many competing terms are there for the same makeup?:main_rolleyes:

Ray hines created the Hybino it is albino + hypo.
Hybino it is albino + super hypo.

TUG created the sunglow it is albino + hypo.
sunglow it is albino + super hypo.

It's just origin when albino is added to hypo the whole hypo and super hypo thing seems to get forgoten about.Wheather they be rightly hypo or super hypo they are almost always tagged as just hybino and sunglow depending on there ancestory.

Though hybino and sunglow are originally creator names.IMO life would be esayer if we just tagged as market name like so.

Albino + hypo = hybino.
&
Albino + super hypo types = sunglow.

Humm...some people said that Hybino is a Super Hypo Tangerine albino...but others said it was a Super hypo + Albino....so, does it have the tangerine colour or what? xD

I think both groups of people meant the same thing: it's an albino leo that has no body spotting because it also has the characteristics of the super hypo. Ideally it should have the tangerine color and it does seem that most hypos and superhypos have tangerine color. There would be all different qualities of hybino and the better quality ones would have deep orange coloring. On the other hand, the hybino comes from Ray Hines super hypos and they originally didn't have tangerine coloring. I would say, on thinking about it, that people would be most interested in buying the hybinos with deep orange coloring but others exist as well. I made hybinos this year using a gecko from Ray Hines line and they were a yellow/orange color. I sold them for $35 because they did not have the deep orange.

I think I've got it

So we are talking about an albino whose yellow/orange pattern is influenced by the solid body color of the hypo parent?

The notation, I guess ,was making me second guess myself:
albino + hypo meaning both traits expressed
vs
albino x hypo which would just be a het

I think I have a grip now! The reason for the inquiry is I am trying to put together a deal for a group of super hypo het albino females and a jungle albino male. If I have it correctly there is a shot at a full range of albino patterns and 100% het babies.

And BTW thanks to the old hands at this who work so hard to clarify concepts that must be so basic to your way of seeing them! :main_thumbsup:

I have a hybino carrot head (het raptor). His father was a raptor (het reverse stripe) and his mother was a hybino. I bought him at an expo...I didn't know about that morph (hybino), but when I saw him, I thought he was beautiful (and I still do). That's why I asked that question.

so... how does one create sunglows/hybinos from scratch if it isn't as simple as crossing a S/HTCT with an albino? all the threads i've read pertaining to the topic are rather vague.

This was the first project I even attempted and it took me a lot longer than it should have because I had a poor breeder and another uncooperative one. Here's what I did:

Generation 1: I crossed a male Tremper albino with a female Hines line
SHTCT. From this I got a SHTCT female het for albino

Generation 2: I bred the female offspring back to the father (SHTCT het for albino x albino). Some of the babies were albino and some of these were hybino.

You can also do this by getting male and female offspring from your first cross, all of which will be het for albino and then crossing the nicest female with the nicest male sibling. I didn't do it this way because I incubate only for female. You could also cross your male or female offspring with an unrelated albino or het albino if you want to avoid breeding relatives, which is OK to do, by the way, as long as you don't do it excessively.
