I'm still really tired and trying to catch up, so here is my latest update of my moving process/progress and a few pics.
1. I managed to get ALL of the wallpaper off both the kitchen and dining room walls and repainted them.
2. I didn't have time to work on any woodwork and only stepped into the new gecko rooms to find tools.
3. There was no water damage to my house, but there is standing water in my backyard and the irrigation ponds in the subdivision are overflowing.
4. I haven't even listened to the messages on my answering machine yet, let alone replied to all the emails that came while I was gone.
5. I had my first official guests to the new house and am honored that they were Kelli, Steve & Conor Hammack
6. My mom could charge people a LOT of money as an interior decorator or whatever they're called.
7. I don't deserve my mom.
8. Jersey liked the new house and was perfectly behaved on both 20 hour car rides.
9. Wall paper should only be sold to people with special licenses and permits.
10. Iowa still sucks.
Here's a "before picture" of the dining room. I know there's a bunch of shit in the way, but you can see the wallpaper.
Here's the dining room after my mom got through with it. (I painted and hung the new chandelier)
I don't have a good picture of the new paint in the kitchen, but you can kind of see it in this picture of the living room and you can see the color in the picture of Jersey approving of the new furniture. (Mom went nuts on the living room as well - obviously)
Here's what the kitchen used to look like, but it is actually toned down in this picture. It was a peach / orange combo with fugly wallpaper. It took one coat of primer and two coats of the new blue paint to cover it up after I got the wallpaper off. *note* don't even attempt to remove wallpaper without a Wagner Power Steamer. That thing is possibly the best invention ever made.
I still hope to be finished moving in within three weeks or so. I have a feeling I'm going to have to make another trip before the "final" gecko trip though. We'll see.
