Whee! i thought it was a tang. but i'm rather bad at identifying morphs at such a young age. These two are why wandering corperate pet stores can be rewarding I paid less than 20 bucks each for them.
yes, i know, shoot me now... but pay my bills first.
The breeders have been sending them too us WAY too young tho. Ive had to hide them all in back fora week or two before putting them out. They all sell for the same price, but lately weve been getting in patty's and jungles a lot. First Tang ive seen, but who knows, mebbe more. And better i buy them than some kid whos gonna kill it. right? (as i justtify buying -more- geckos)
I stopped buying from Petco/Petsmart/Pet Stores as well. Was tired of getting animals and having them die from parasites and such that I was unaware of. I had a MHD die over the course of a day and there was no indication of anything going wrong...
But, beautiful nonetheless and it is cool that you hide them so you can fatten them up a bit before selling them. The pet stores out here in Placerville sell little twigs all the time...it's sad ...
There's a store in Sacramento (I can't remember the name) that actually breeds the majority of the animals it sells. I'd buy from them, but only because I know they "should" know about their animals since they breed them successfully. But chain stores like Petco/Petsmart...I only will buy supplies from them, and only when I have to get something that I can't get from LLL or at another store.
If I knew any pet stores that kept their tanks clean and had healthy animals, I might buy, but as of yet I haven't seen any...
Yeah, that's mostly my policy too. The little pet store I was talking about before is really great- they even have a special contained room for the reptiles so they don't catch any outside diseases. At least, I think that's what it's for.
I agree. I wont buy from most palces either... big chains suck... except for my reptile dept I keep[ my folks healthy and happy, and most my education i got outside of that place. I try to enlighten customers as I go. Plus, i get the ultimate veto. if I dont think that a customer is gonna treat the critter right i can just say. 'No, you cant have it'
It's unfortunate that most employee's at pet stores aren't trained or have an understanding on how to properly care for reptiles as you do...otherwise I think more people would buy from stores...
I've actually been in the local store here and educated people in the store on different animals because nobody could give them the answers they needed :S. You'd be amazed...wait....no you wouldn't be amazed, but you'd be irritated with how often people just say "yeah, Green Iguana's are great and easy" and completely skip the part where they huge...and if you could see the leopard geckos at the local stores here...you'd probably want to stab yourself in the eyes...or at least storm out very unhappy.
