A friend of mine who's kinda into geckos (has 1), was over today & is obsessed with one of mine. He offered me $250 for a gecko that i paid $75 for & i laughed. Am i gonna have the same problem with the babies & end up keeping every baby i hatch? God help me!

LOL.....Mike you probably will in the very begining. But it doesnt take long you start picking the ones that you really like and the ones you can stand to part with.At least you now know for sure that you are not just in it for the money. If so you would have seen the profit and taken his money!!! Good luck.

Well, it all honesty, it does suck to sell your babies. When you have enough of them, you'll understand the necessity, but that doesn't mean you have to like it. ;)

Sometimes I actually cry after I've sold one of my geckos!

Marcia don't worry. Macy is still safe. She is in a 20L with 2 other female leopards. The 3 of them I want to wait untill July-September before I let Vince have his way with them :main_laugh:

My first eggs haven't hatched yet and I am coming up with excuses to keep them. Luckily I have my husband to play bad guy and remind me that we can't have 300 geckos. I'm still not sure why not..... I have empty rooms in my house, LOL. I can relate to how you feel . I will probably end up crying over each one of them too. I seem to be a marshmello when it comes to these little guys.

I have kicked myself in the arse many times for selling some of my first few geckos, including the first one I ever bought, the first one I ever hatched, and a few others. The reality of the situation is that if you have a limited amount of space to work with, you can't keep them all, and it is a shame to have to let some go. At this moment I am debating whether or not to part with a one or 2 proven males that have done some nice work in the past. The business part of me tells me to sell them, but the pet keeper in me tells me that they are somehow a part of what makes me still have a "collection of little friends" instead of just "business assets renting tub space". I don't have a problem selling hatchlings anymore, but the longer you keep them, and raise them up, the harder it is to let them go. Maybe when I have my full size gecko room completed next year, and I am able to bring a couple of extra adult racks in there that are gathering dust in the garage, I will be less concerned with freeing up rack space.

I haven't bred yet and don't plan to anytime soon - but, I don't know how hard it would be to let go of one of my geckos. But thinking of the time and care you put into your babies, it must be difficult when it does come time to have to sell. I'd probably have a hard time too if I cared for them everyday and I had to let go!!

I know now, that if anyone tried to buy any of my current geckos, I'd also decline. I love my babies too much to give sell them.

So message to Marcia - Sunkiss is doing well :)!! She's eating like crazy now and is always on high alert LOL. She's such a cutie and she always makes me laugh... she's my only gecko that likes to claw at the ground and squeeze into any spot she can, even if it's under paper towel :D
