we got our gecko about a month ago, and at first, of course, he was jumpy and moody and everything, but then he calmed down and he was great, but last week, i accidentally over stuffed him, i read somewhere that you can feed geckos until they stop wanting food, and he ate about 5 or 6 meal worms... i'm pretty sure that he didn't feel too well after that, the last worm that went down his throat had a pretty hard time getting down, he was squirming it down... he seems to have digested well, he is skinny again (he bloated a lot after that, obviously) and he is pooping every day as normal. (usually on me) haha. but now he is jumpy and he seems to be very quick with me, which makes me feel like he doesn't like me anymore... i would understand if he was moody because he was shedding, but he just shed last week. i don't know whats wrong with him, someone please help my gecko love me again =( :(

i'm pretty sure 5 or 6 mealworms would not even be close to stuffing him...and i don't think feeding has anything to do with how he likes being handled either...

just think about having some giant animal handling YOU similarly...
might be scary.
in my experience the more you handle the animal, the better it will tolerate handling
good luck!

we've had ours for about a month now, and we handle him for at least two hours a day... don't you think he should be used to us by now or no?

i think 2 hours a day is too much, im not sure though.
Not trying to steal this thread, i have a question on the same topic. 1 day after my leo shed, I picked him up and he sort of freaked out. Now whenever i walk in the room, he rushes out of his hide, pokes his head out, sees me, and runs back inside like hes scared. Ive had him for like 5 days now, help me plz?

I agree, 2 hours is too much.

It should be for about 10-15 minutes until they are comfortable with you.

ez2animate, give your gecko time to adjust to you. Your some giant thing, he doesn't know whether or not to trust you yet.

heh i dont think 5 or 6 mealies will fill your leo up, my big tang will usually eat 6 or 7 super worms every other night!

Geckos don't usually "like" being handled or pet. So handling him 2 hours a day is stressing him constantly. Let him be, or he will just get more jumpy.

If you want an animal that loves to be pet, get a cat..or a dog...

Geckos are lizards...not furry pet me animals =/ I wish people would see and know this before they got them.
