ok, so i ordered this replica ipod nano to give as a christmas present the day before thanksgiving off of some ebay seller with like 98% positive feedback... paid with paypal the same day and anxiously awaited the arrival of the mp3 player so i could test it out and see if i wanted to order more from the same seller since he had a bunch listed...

all of a sudden a few days after the sale, the seller is no longer a registered user on ebay, but i decided to wait a while to see if it shipped anyway since some of the feedback mentioned it taking 2 weeks for shipping...

i finally got sick of waiting and opened a dispute on paypal to find out what was going on since the guy wouldn't respond to the email i sent when i made payment and what do you know, within the same day the sneaky guy refunds my money to my paypal account and apologizes (without any explanation of course)

so the other day i found this ebay powerseller... 5000+ feedbacks, 98+% positive, ebay store and everything and won auctions for 3 of the same mp3 player i had tried to get before from the other seller... well today the seller is mysteriously no longer a registered user, but i learned from my mistake and opened a dispute right away this time so i can either pressure him into shipping my stuff before christmas rolls around or at least get my money back if this too is a scam...

it's just really frustrating because my dad mentioned specifically that he wanted an mp3 player and i know i won't be able to find them anywhere for under $40 unless it's like the smallest amount of memory and no screen whatsoever, but oh well, i'm still holding out hope that this new seller will be shipping them out instead of trying to rip me off.

Wow, tough break. I'm always a little weary and scared of buying stuff from Ebay but I do it anyway. Luckily, I have yet to have any problems (knock on wood). I try to stay away from buying off ebay during the holidays, especially electronics for that same reason. I hope everything turns out ok.:D

well i'll at least be able to get my money back through paypal... it's just a pain thinking you're done shopping and then finding out the stuff you bought never existed...

Try this website...ioffer.com... I have bought several things from here and you dont have to bid. Everything is buy it now becasue it is alot of wholesalers. I love it, because its not a pressured sale like eBay (although I still am addicted to eBay as well lol) Hope it all works out!:santa3:

98% feedback is actually really low for a powerseller. I wouldn't buy from any powerseller that is below 99.6%. You should also check to see what their negative feedback is for.

I've been burned 50% of the time on eBay (that is, twice) so never again for me. newegg.com has cheaper electronics stuff, you should check them out, or maybe Craigslist for a local thing you could pick up.

Ebay is the worst place you can possibly buy popular things like electronics and collectibles. People think it's secure, but it really isn't in the least bit. People with 100% feedback can rip you off. I always buy used items directly from a person via a message board or locally. I'm sure you can find a decent priced mp3 player around where you live, they've become quite cheap over the years.

i do ebay all the time, never get anything from a person who has feedback below 99.5% for a powerseller. i have only been ripped off once, fortunately. i had to ship a money order, and i checked up on it and it was cashed, and the item never came to me. the person never emailed any of my replies back either. so i still had the address to where to ship the money order and threatened to drive up to his house and take my money's worth in hospital bills or goods from his house. of course then he emails me back and says he was out of town (this has been about 3 months) and gives me a refund.

thats why i hate ebay...most of them deal crappy stuff!! its not worth putting your name and credit card on such a lousy website!! buy.com looks much ,more credible for electronics if u ask me...

well, i opened a paypal dispute with the new seller as soon as i saw he wasn't registered on ebay anymore and it kinda forced him to ship the mp3 players faster and hooked me up with tracking numbers for them, so as soon as i get them i'll be happy... i feel kinda bad for jumping the gun when he actually had the stuff i bought to send me, but better safe than sorry...

I don't blame you one bit with all of the scams going on right now

I do a lot of shopping on Amazon.com

Their shipping is a lot cheaper than ebay - their prices are comparable and they seem a lot more secure

Has anyone ever noticed what people on ebay are charging to ship stuff??

It's nuts!!!

The worst thing that I ever saw was a really light weight item-I forget what it was- and they were trying to charge $75 for shipping

Unbelievable !!

I sure hope that you get your stuff soon

yeah, it seems like people set high shipping so buyers will feel like they got a deal with a low purchase price and not notice how high the shipping is...

according to the tracking number the first package of 3 was processed in NY today some time so i can't imagine it'll be more than a few days until it's here...

the only thing about ebay in this case is not many other places have these "knockoff" ipods. i got three 4GB mp3 players for around $100 shipped where i would have to pay twice that for one ipod nano in a store or online. one is for my dad since he specifically said he wanted an mp3 player and the other two i'm not sure if i'll give one to my brother and one to my sister or keep one for myself and find another gift for one of them... i found a powerseller with 99.8% feedback with them so i'll see about getting another one for myself.

well the first of the 3 mp3 players came today... so i'm charging it now but it's worked so far as i've tested it.

it's kinda funny, you can definitely tell by reading the manual that it was translated and they keep referencing a MODE button that doesn't exist (instead of MENU)
