I have good news!!

Hey guys a gals i got good news, remember the ranting about how the big box stores keep care of their Leos. Well after i yelled at them a few weeks back their tanks are now poop free clean well watered and got food.

I feel really good about what came of that yelling session, i belive i have helped alot of geckos and snakes lead a much happier and heathier life. I think they smiled at me when i saw them!! :cry: :banana:

How about that for a feel good story!!!

Nice job! even if you have been marked as an insane customer in the break room! Did you take it a step further & mention to the manager that the improvement in conditions didn't go unnoticed? Good feed back works wonders too

That is great news, i only wish petco would have listened to me....maybe i needed to do more yelling and less asking.

i wish i had the guts to do that at the store i get my worms from. they are the only local place that gives me a good deal so i havent said anything for my own selfish reasons. it haunts me though, all the tanks are covered in poo. the glass is always dirty. all their reptiles look sucked up like they have parasites too. god it bothers me. anyone want to call them or report them? the name is Fontana Pet store, Fontana Ca. sad thing is they have great customer service just crappy housing habits. i swear almost all the pets look sick.

OH don't get me started on my local pet store. They try to charge you for the air in that place, but seriously theyve had the same leo in there for a month now, no moist hide, its on wood chips, no warm side or cool side, just a light in the middle, and the thing is missing all of its toes. Probably due to problems in a shed.

i am going through peta to justify the care of geckos at a certain chain store.

we went there a few weeks ago and had over 6 leopards on there death beds.

Raised mortal hell with the store manager in which it was put on "corporate office" the reason being why they were not being taken care of properly.

But now they are under investigation by PETA.

One of the two local pet stores that we have here is also horrible. I called our local Humane society but nothing was done. This particular store gives all their damaged bags of food to the shelter. They had one gecko in there forever and it had a huge tumor on it's side and it was so skinny. They wanted $129.00 for this little albino. We tried to talk them into adopting it out to us. I begged, yelled threatened to no avail. I HAD to go in there the other day because one of my UTH burned out and the other store was out of them and the little gecko was gone. My husband asked if they adopted it out and the lady just said " oh no it just up and died the other day". I had to walk out and my husband had to buy my UTH. These people shouldn't be allowed to sell reptiles and they think they are experts.

Oh wow, that's so sad. I know how you feel though, I used to totally avoid petshops because I would get so mad at them when they gave bad advice and never took care of their animals. Thankfully the Petsmart here has improved alot and one of the other stores has closed down.

Oh and to stay on topic, congrats on getting the store to improve their conditions. I've never had any luck so it's great you got someone to listen!

Easy people its a feel good story!!! Don`t violate the terms of the site. Dont use any names of pet stores, i used the word "Big Box Store" you can get the point there.

I was happy they listened to me, its a giant step forward for the Big Box guys. Dont give up keep on them about the little guys and maybe they will finally listen to you! After all they listened to me.

I bet if everyone keeps trying more and more pet stores will listen and change. Do what ever you gotta do short of breaking the Law!

oops your right john, my bad. its just horrible how some people sell sick leos and some people dont know any better and buy them anyhow. maybe ill just get the balls to tell them myself at least for the reptiles sake. the beardies they have are the worst i have ever seen in my life even. how do you get a hold of peta? what is that?
