OK! i just got a leopard gecko 5 days ago. i have some questions to ask, and will be asking more during the week.

1. Can i use a Plastic Container,(Critter Keeper) for Gut-Loading crickets? I am going to Petsmart this week, and i want to buy a cage for my Crickets, just a cheepy plastic one.

2. What foods (other than petstore food) are best for Gut-Loading Crickets? I know some stuff like grain, greens, fruit, etc but what is the best food for them?

3. Do i have to have both a Heating Pad, and a Lamp? just wondering

Well i hope you can help. I am going to ask more probally.

1. An appropriate sized plastic enslosure should be fine to house crickets in.

2. When I don't use commercial cricket feed to gutload my crickets, I provide them with oats, carrots, apples, and potatoes.

3. I would use an under-tank heater and add a lamp if the UTH alone does not keep the warm side of the enclosure at about 90 degrees Fahrenheit. I don't worry much about the temperatures of the cool side of my enclosures. It ranges from 70-80 degrees. Under-tank heaters are ideal because belly heat aids digestion. I would only use a lamp alone if it is strong enough to heat the bottom of the enclosure as a UTH would. In my experience, low watt lamps (especially in taller enclosures) tend to raise the air temperature but not heat the bottom enough.

Also, for future reference, this section of the forum (General Site Questions/Issues) is used for questions and issues regarding this website, not the care of leopard geckos. This thread would be more appropriate in the "General Discussion" section under "Leopard Geckos". :)
