Everyone in my family knows I'm the animal person and that I belong to a few rescue groups/shelters so everyone always comes to me when an animal needs a home.

Well.....this is a different one for me. It's an alligator that belongs to my sister's boyfriend's brother. I don't know the details of where he is but the alligator is currently living with him and his mom. I know it's being cared for properly just from looking at it and the condition. It's not fully grown but still a juvie. I told them they needed to find a home for it a long time ago but they didn't care. Now they want me to find a place for it to live.

Only problem is my groups don't deal with animals like this. Anyone know of a group/shelter/person/place that is willing to take an alligator and give it a home with the proper care? I live in Johnstown Ohio which is about 30-40 minutes from Columbus. Going out of state is a possibility but that would have to be worked out.

Does it make sense to contact a local zoo? If they can't take it, they may know where to ask next.

Yeah I was gonna try and get in touch with the Columbus Zoo but I wasn't sure they took animals off the street per say.

They may not take it in, but there may be a reptile sanctuary or something like that they could refer you to. Good luck!!!

I'm down here in Florida and the Saint Augustine Alligator farm take gators from the area museums and zoos when they get too large to be kept (or be cute). I have no idea if they do pet rescues like yours or what they do with the animals they get, but I would assume they have a pretty good network of contacts.
