I see alot of photos up here with some sweet effects, tints, etc (i really like when the whole photo is black and white with one thing in color lol) and was wondering how to do it? is there a program to download/ buy/ etc? i've heard of paint.net and just got a photoshop.com account today cuz i was bored. anywho...any advice?

i have a kodak easy share camera and the software that it came with, with basic effects (b&w, tint changes, "spotlight", coloring book, and other stupid ones like that). but thats it. i was lookin for something more intense lol. i saw where people add swirls and other effects

I absolutely LOVE Photoshop and prefer it You can buy books from Photoshop college classes.. just go to a college bookstore and see what you find.. The Photoshop books have step-by-step tutorials for almost everything.

Lol, you basically layer a photo to make changes to it.

Like I said I had PhotoShop pro and it was great but I downloaded a bunch of brushes (the swirls and stuff) online and made a few on own. I'm pretty sure GIMP has layers and their are different tutorials online. Those programs are pretty easy to use you just need patience. I didn't know a damn thing and then got hooked.

I suppose Gimp has its pros and cons. I remember I made a signature that pops up like a animation. Like pretend a pic of someone holding a gun then next pic someone firing it.

Photoshop and Gimp are commonly the same thing. To me they are the same thing but different names. But I know Gimp was supposedly made for Linux. And Photoshop I don't know. I do find it harder using Gimp because it has more of a layout with easier finds and buttons.
