I Learned My Lesson: Don't Tease Leopard Geckos

I think my gecko has 2 goals in life:

1.Eat as many mealies as he can in his lifetime

2.Climb on my face.

Well, yesterday, he managed to fulfill his second goal in life. Ever since I got Stripes, he wanted to climb onto my face. He always stares at my face and starts walking towards it.

This is how it started yesterday. I was having one of my favourite activities with Stripes: Reading Calvin and Hobbes while playing with Stripes. So I was doing a hand over hand in front of my face and he kept on walking toward my face. Every time he gets close to my face, I move my hand (which he is climbing on) away from my face and put my other hand in front. As soon as he gets on the hand closest to my face I move him back again. So I think he was getting very frustrated.

After five minutes, when he was close to my face, he jumped! I never thought leos jump! He landed on my nose and started climbing up. His claws were scratching my face. He finally got on top of my head. I was afraid to move because he might fall. So he was sitting on top of my head for about 10 minutes. I had to tilt my head to the side otherwise he would scratch my face. After a while I guess he got bored and jumped off my head onto my back then he jumped back onto the bed. (I was laughing throughout the incident) :D

After that incident, I put him back into his cage and I checked my face. There were scratches all over the right side of my face. So I learned my lesson. DON'T MESS WITH THE GECKO!

Lol, my Kiya used to do the same thing. She would climb up my face, occasionally it would be painful because she would step on my eye, then she would sit on top of my head and just relax there. She liked it very much. I have pictures of her on my head. ^^

LOL my geckos like to do the same thing. I have a psychotic SHTCT that will take flying leaps, claws out, at my face then climb up and slide right back down, scratching my face and occasionally catching a claw on my lip along the way. its funny tho haha

I wonder why leos want to climb onto our heads? My little Arabesque tries and never succeeds. I just don't want him to go after my eye lashes like my cats! LOL! Do you think it could be because our head emits the most heat from our body's?

My Yuki LOVES to do that. I'll hold her and she'll stare at my face intently before she takes a flying leap. lol. As soon as she gets to the top of my head she just.. casually climbs back down.
My Komet will climb from my shoulder to my head. He doesn't take any flying leaps though. lol.

Crazy geckos. :x

Haha, that was funny! I don't let my leos climb on my face because it hurts! I noticed they like to sit on higher places, maybe you can let him sit on your shoulder, they'll love it!

p.s. oh yeah, leos can jump!! They make me laugh everytime I see them jump!

Mine does the same thing (except being a crested he's expected to jump) I wonder if all kinds of geckos goals in life is just to jump in our faces.....

My gecko did it again! He scratched the other side of my face! I think he was very pleased with himself.
