I am right there with you, 3 dogs, a bunch of neighborhood cats I feed, now 3 geckos, then not to mention the 2 two-legged critters of my own lol. I have been partially covering the entrance of the log to give him a little more security and he has a couple other hides but seems to prefer the log, I think because of the belly heat. He obviously came out some point last night because he pooped. The coloring of this guy is amazing, I have no idea how he ended up with those people.

Yeah, I actually bought a new hide for Mitarashi (leo in my avatar) last night because I felt like the rock 'cave' I had purchased wasn't private enough for him. The other hide was just some cheap food container and I think it wasn't blocking out the light well enough. Hides are pretty important I guess :(

Yep! They keep stress down, stress can cause all kinds of problems. The housing for this gecko is temporary for quarantine purposes, then he will move into a permanent home. I think the smaller space (a little smaller than 10 gallon on floor space) will be better while he is adjusting. I was planning on getting another gecko soon, just wasn't thinking this soon. The UTH should be here in the mail today or Monday, it worked out that my plain old heating pad from walmart keeps the floor temp 93-94 on high. It's not ideal but hey it works in a pinch.

Ok, no UTH today, but it will be here Monday along with a new hide so I can take out the butter container lol. He is eating and out exploring so I think he will be fine.

Isn't that frustrating? I ordered a filter and eye drops for those sick baby turtles last Wednesday, and they didn't come til yesterday. I was not a happy camper. I'm sure your leo will be fine without the UTH for just a bit though. Good thing they're so resilient!

Yeah, he seems to be doing ok with the heat pad, it just shuts off after an hour or so. I have to keep turning it on but that is really not a big deal. He is getting belly heat which is what is important. After his quarantine, I am getting all 3 leos checked for parasites, before I put Loki and Thor in a 40 gallon breeder I am planning on splitting. I plan on making it multi level on each side so they have a little more room. My grumpy girl will just stay in her 20L.

Also I hope you get those sick babies healthy again, I can never turn an animal in need away also. I don't understand how people can have these pets and not give them proper care and a good quality of life.

Loki and Thor. I love that. :D Will that be a solid barrier or no? I assume they're both male, so can they be in the same tank with a clear barrier?

They appear to be very slowly improving. One's missing most of its lower jaw, and it had a kind of growth on its ear, but it came off on its own. The other has MBD, is missing a toe and part of its tail, and doesn't open its eyes or move much. But I finally got a filter, UVB, some vitamins, and eye drops, and they seem to be a little bit better. I'm hoping they'll continue to improve. I've worked bigger miracles actually.

It will be a solid plexiglass (sp?) with something to obstruct their view. As of right now I have not handled Thor(the new rescue) to get a good look to tell male or female, just calling it a him for now. Loki is the baby I got a while back and it is looking like it is a male, not 100% yet, he is still young.

I am glad to hear they are improving, poor babies. You are awesome for helping these babies! I couldn't of turned them away either.

Stupid question, but how do you keep the plexiglass in place? Are you gonna use, like, aquarium sealant? But then you wouldn't really ever be able to take it out. I have to ask, did you get the idea for Loki and Thor from The Avengers movie, or from the actual mythology? X)

I'm just grateful the owner was so cooperative. I had to contact my professor to find out whose they were and then hunted him down on Facebook.

I plan on using clear silicone to keep it in place and it should come off relatively easily with a razor blade. The idea is it should peel off but I don't know if it will. As far as the names, I am actually a comic book, super hero, full blown nerd type of girl, I am also big into the actual mythology as well. That is awesome that the owner cooperated.

Oh, really? I didn't even think about that. I guess that'd make sense though, since I've removed the excess stuff with a razor blade. Derp. :D I have to admit that I really have 0 patience with comic books. I had to read V for Vendetta for my lit class, and even though I love the story and loved the movie, I hated the book. I didn't like to read books with pictures even when I was a little kid, so a book that's all pictures is torture for me. XD

Yeah, it will take me a while to get everything together, I think I am going with tile and then will need a much larger UTH to split in the middle. Comic books are not for everyone. I don't just sit and read them for hours but I know the background and basics

3 of mine are chain store rescues. i cant help but bring them home when i see them actually doing badly in the stores. like i realize they're not the best at caring for them but when i see them starving or blinded from shed being stuck i have to get them. i realize sooner or later i wont be able to bring them home but as long as i can i wont stand by and let them die like that. i try to educate the stores but most of the time the animal disappears and you never see it again. -.- it'll be easier to do when we finally get a house but my husband is air force so we're waiting to see if he gets stationed anywhere in the near future before finding one. :p then it's reptile room time! haha.

My bedroom has become the reptile room, none of mine are from a pet store. My grumpy girl was from a small breeder here in town, she was healthy and fat when I got her, just a partial regen tail that came from her sister before he separated them. Then Loki came from a friend of a friend who didn't have the money to feed him and their other reptiles (they rehomed them all though) and then Thor I happened upon on Craigslist and I wouldn't of got him except that I saw the conditions he was in, you could see the filthy cage, bright lights, no hides, and calcisand. So I told them what I thought about their care when I picked him up.

How is he doing today?

I use silicone to attach a traditional screen top to the top of a rubbermaid tub that I converted into an enclosure for another herp. It holds the screen top in place well, but is easy to remove if needed.
