OMG We've gotten so much rain here over the past week that I can't even get some of our vans into the train yards to work. I have guys that are running on their second shift cause they can't even get out of the yards and to their homes.
My manager down in Crestline/Willard (about 1.5 hours south of me) told me their local football field's goal post are under water!! And there is a good possibility they will bring in the Nation Guard if the rain keeps up.
I just had to call the railroad to tell them we are shutting down till further notice in that area. One of them just called me back and jokingly asked if we have any boats because he has a hot train. Meaning this train needs to move and it needs to move NOW! We are trying to get them to move the train to an area where we can get to, but this may take some time. I've already sent the order out to all driver they are not to drive through standing water no matter how much a crew has a temper tantrum about all the detours. If the crews complain they can get out and wade through the water themselves.
