Every escape artist I have lost has been found. Including my female stripe aft that climbed out of her 20 gallon long tank fell 4 ft and ran under my sisters door across the hall without being seen by my step dads dog and then into the next room and hid under a pillow. had my mom not lifted the pillow I don't think we would have ever found her. So dont give up she is somewhere.

Ohhh nooo, Ken! I am so very sorry your little one didn't make it. I have had many geckos escape, and was fortnunate to have found all of them alive except one... which my dog found before I could. What a tragedy. My heart aches for you and your baby.

I am so sorry for your loss Ken. It sure must be a hard thing to lose such a cute little creature such as a leopard gecko or anything at all! Try and feel better.

I'm trying, but I feel so responsible. Someone at my house said, "You'll hatch another one;" which threw me into a rage. Clearly they don't understand. I love GF for that. The people here get it. Thank you all for understanding how I feel.

Thank you, Marcia...

I know you understand. It is clear just by talking to you how much you care for your animals. I aspire to be like you. I feel as though I've failed my Leo. I wish there was something I could do. I am usually so careful, one little slip up and now I feel so bad. My heart aches also. I love my Leos so much. I feel like I've failed as a keeper. I don't know what else to say.

We lost a hatchling back in June. She was only 6 grams when she escaped and we were pretty sure that she was a goner after about 2 weeks of searching. We figured that she had gotten down one of the vents. In October, While cleaning out our closet in our bathroom, my husband found a larger gecko( 34 grams). We immediatly checked and there was noone missing. It was little polka. She had not only survived but seemed to have done quite well for herself. I guess it is a good thing that we have escapees from the cricket bin and mealies are often dropped and escape under furniture. Good luck finding your baby.

sorry to hear about your little one. I've had about 5 escapes sor far and have been fortunate to of found them all. I just wanted to add a few sugestions to help the next person that this happens to. One is hides lots of them, I like to put them along the wall, I figure they might feel more secure running along the wall and not out in the open. And I like to put them near all the entrances to rooms. Second this one is kind of a pain but I'm sure we all agree our geckos are worth it. I take pieces of paper and line them across every door way and the entrance to every room and put a layer of flour on there. like I said its a pain but once they walk across it you'll know which room there in. I usually find mine in the nearest dark spot, which for me is the closet in the gecko room. Hope this helps someone in the future.

I had a beloved fish get out of my aquarium recently and my dog was running around in the house with her. I put her back, but she suffered for an hour and then died. She had been out for quite a while. She escaped out of a small opening in the hood in the back. I felt horrible for days. If only I had covered it.

You can't predict these things. Just live and learn.
