I have an older male leopard gecko that has an eye infection that is getting worse every day. I can't afford a vet bill. I would like to put him out of his misery, but can't come up with a painless, fast, bloodless method. Any suggestions?

I have heard putting them in a ziplock and putting it in the freezer is the best way. I'm sorry you have to put your leo down.

How old is he? If he was like 20 years old, and on the verge of death, then maybe you could think that way. But when you brought him into your home, you chose to be a care taker...He's depending on YOU! I cant imagine that eye drops could be that horribly expensive? Why'd you wait until he got this bad?

I hate to see a gecko be put down for an eye infection. I don't mean to sound rude, but being able to provide the care they need to survive is part of being a pet owner. please maybe consider if there's anything else you can do in your power to get this gecko the help it needs.

Eye infections are treatable. Please understand that you have options. There is an adoption section on the forum main page you can post in, http://geckoforums.net/forumdisplay.php?f=52 Perhaps a craigslist ad might reach a local herp rescue that isn't on the forum. Quite a few of our members here have adopted sick geckos from craigslist ads and successfully rehabbed them. Please don't euthanize because you can't care for your pet, let him have a chance with someone who can.

buy owning this gecko you do have a responsibility to care for it when its sick and in health. it breaks my heart that you feel you could just finnish its life because you wont take it to see a vet. if it rele was that bad dont you think you owe it the respect of the vet putting it to sleep.
i cant rele afford the vet bills but iv just payed out £205 on one of my geckos and im not even sure if she will survive (altough i pray to god she will)
