Dont have any pics atm but 4 of my 5 geckos seems to have little man boobs under their front legs.

I have been giving them a calcium dish 24/7 and i always dust their feeders, so im thinking they may have gotten a bit too much :(

My 4 regular eaters all have this but my picky eater hasnt.

Apart from Bubba the other 3 are all chubby so i didnt know if it was fat but Bubba isnt fat and still has it.

Other than removing their calcium dishes and not dusting feeders until they hopefully absorb the calcium is there anything i should do or watch out for?

Also im surprised i noticed it happen all at the same time. I dunno if its just cos i noticed it on Yoshi that i looked at the others or if it is some disease/infection :(

Thanks in advance for any help :main_thumbsup:

My gecko gets Ca pockets too and all I do is cut back on the calcium dusting untill the "moobs" are mostly gone. Leave the Ca dish in the tank though.

Is the desire to get eradicate the "calcium moobs" a purely aesthetic choice, or do they pose some health risk unknown to me? If anything, I've been under the impression that they were a good thing.

To be honest looks-wise they dont bother me. Im just thinking that if they are getting them because im giving them too much calcium then i should cut it down.

Im unsure of any health issues but still...if a side effect is happening from too much of something then isnt it better to correct it?

As far as I've heard no gecko has died of "Ca moobs". But my personal opinion is that if there's enough Ca in the system that it's being deposited under he armpits you may as well cut back. All animals can get ill from too little or too much of a vitamin or mineral, so I'd like to be on the safe side and not give an excess (or a shortage), but that's just me being nutritionally paranoid. I said I let the "moobs" get mostly gone because I still like to know he's got those little reserves, but don't want them to be hanging out like a cow's udder.

are we talking about the pockets that inflate behind their front legs in their pits?

My leos get it too, but I was dusting at every feeding, now I only dust every other feeding. I dont know of any ill-effects from calcium pockets, but perhaps??

Yeah the moobs (man boobs) i was refering to are exactly the same as the pics on that thread. I have taken peoples advice and cut down on the calcium and they are starting to go away :D

Atm i have dishes in the tanks which i do see them eat out of but have not dusted feeders. When the moobs have gone altogether i will prolly dust feeders every other feeding to make sure they are getting some.

Thanks a lot for everyones help :main_thumbsup:
