I Was Fired

I was fired from my job at a pet store (that shall remain nameless due to TOS).

I've been gone because of my radiation therapy. I came back to work this Friday.

Since I feel that my post would be breaking the TOS if I went into details, I will just say that it was not a happy experience when I came back.

I'm soooo disappointed. Angry, too.

I don't know what to think, or even what to say.
---

On a bright note, a vet clinic near my house that I worked with once and awhile when I did my shelter work is hiring a new assistant. I'll be applying there. I hope I get the job because the vet clinic is completely small animal care centered. Also, it seems like it will give me good experience if I choose to go into the vet tech field.

I can't imagine being a pocket pet vet... But herps? I think I could do that! ;)

Guess every cloud has a silver lining, huh?

Hannah, I'm sorry to hear about your situation at work! I'm pretty sure it is illegal to fire someone because of an illness... you might want to look into that.

I've had some long term chronic problems myself that have cost me a job or two... so I know how you are feeling... remember to stay positive and know that there must be something better out there for you. :)

I hope the position at the vet clinic works out, please let us know!

It totally sucks they fired you because of your health. I wish you the Best hope on your new job and possibility of becoming a Vet tech. What ever you call it a blessing in disguise, fate,.....ect I feel this is a great opportunity for you to follow your dreams. I am a strong believer in Fate.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words.

I was considering suing them, or at least getting some sort of compensation. But in the end, I realize that they have their reasons.

It was just a blow because now I am better, and I was so ready to go back to working. :( It just reminds me of how I am treated at home because of going through radiation. Like no one thinks I can go back to be how strong I was because of the damage radiation did.

Blargh. Oh well, I'm very excited about the opportunity that may come along with this vet assistant position.

UPDATE!!

Sooo, I get a call around 6am this morning:

Manager: "The geckos are getting worse!"

Me: "*insert manager's name here*??"

Manager: "Can you come back?"

Me: "You fired me, and now you're begging me to come back?"

Manager: "Looks that way. See you at 11am?"

Me: "Might as well!"
---

;) I clearly care too much about the geckos and have too much free time. Hey, I was given a raise though, so I guess that they get I am still a useful worker, even if I'm weaker than I used to be.

Blargh, sure enough... Three baby leos in iso that are super thin. I managed to get one to eat by itself, the others need me to give them their food via syringe.

Congrats! Funny how things turn out isn't it? Just make sure that they don't take you for granted.

I'm sure those little geckos will be happy to see you again :D

Yes, I applied for the vet tech job, and for another pet store job as well. The pet store is run by an elderly couple, and their only animals for sale are fish.

Still crossing my fingers on the vet tech job. But I haven't gotten a call back yet.
