ok so ive been toying with the idea of making a fake rock/bark wall out of expanding foam and some other stuff, and i wanted put some 'caves' near the top for my tokays to chill out in

caves being sections of 1.5" PVC tube under good disguise

my logic being they climb, they hide, so make them a hide they can climb to...

would this be a good idea or a waste of time?

would it be beneficial for them to make it a moist hide? currently they have a fake branch thing from ********, a fake plant with a suction cup, a half log, and a old piece of coral rock from a salt water aquarium, that my lil one LOVES

any input is welcome

I think that would be cool. I don't know a lot about Tokay geckos but I can imagine that they'd appreaciate the little hide up top. With my cresties I just provide a very thick "canopy" of fake vegitation that they can hide behind, but they might love a cave even more.

But you never know how your pets will react to the stuff you make them! lol I made my gecko a great tank with lots of foam levels and he doesn't use them at all. He stays on the floor level and uses the first one off the ground to poop on!

heres some links to some fake foam rock wall threads ive found, most are for aquariums, but still the same practice can be applied to a terrarium

this one is the one that gave me the idea for the PVC 'Caves'

this one uses bits of actual rock along with foam for an AMAZING result

this one is where i got my coating idea from, a mix of moss, cocofiber, and concrete primer

makes a very natural woodish/barky kinda texture

Mine is always out in the open when she is climbing or near the top trying to hide under the cover. I have seen logs that are stuck to walls that they can hide in.
Don't no how long u had yours but mine goes through phases when she don't climb for a week or two and then will shed and climb for a few more weeks continuously and repeat
