Identifing a snake

well we found out one of our dogs had killed a small snake. it was black with a yellow belly we only found a foot of it left i dont know how much bigger it was but it was about 2 inches round on the body so i can imagine it was not too much bigger. I can't figure out what it could be the closest thing that i seen that looks like it is a Watersnake but they aren't in this part of florida. I am in located in Clearwater, FL so if anyone knows any other species i can check out or if anyone knows what species i am talking about that would be great I am just curious about what it was. Thanks

no unfortunately i dont. the description is the best i can do. it did have a v-like shaped head too.

sounds like a yellow bellied water snake
did it look like this?

it looked alot like that. its underbody was a very dull yellow too and the rest was a very dark black almost shiny but it was hard to tell since my dog had ran around with it in the dirt.
