I have a 6 month old female blizzard....


she is a little fatty. she loves to eat but lately she eats and she's losing weight. idk whats wrong with her... can you guys help me out? has this happened to anyone before?

sorry to hear about that...
If she is eating and loosing weight it could be a sign of internal parasites eating her food or she is not digesting her food right. Try bumping up her heat if its a little cold to about 95F on the "basking" side. Also try feeding her more and give her some water. Sometimes leos look thin if they are dehydrated.
If that doesn't help I would got see a vet to test her for parasites.

The gecko isn't by chance kept on loose substrate (i.e., sand) is it? If it is, it may have ingested some and become impacted. If not, disregard.

It looks like Edgar covered pretty much everything else.

The another problem can be Crypto but when you have Cryptosporidia then you can forgett nto own Reptiles in the App where you do live or the house. There is no cure against Crypto so better you run to the Vet and make sure that its not Crypto.

I wouldn't worry to much about crypto. Its not as common as parasites and other smaller things.

Crypto is not that common but its much more dangerous. Probably its just some kind of Parasites and after some days of cure your Animal will get fat again. Go to the Vet its just surer.

If this gecko is eating and losing weight, I think it would probably be wise to see a vet. Since she's pooping you'll have no problem bringing the vet a fresh stool sample.

When a gecko is not eating you expect it to lose weight, but this case is different. Unless she's way overweight in the first place and it's a healthy loss of weight, something may be off. It could be a bacteria or something, but I wouldn't worry about crypto. Other parasites are much more common.

It could be the food too I suppose. What are you feeding her? Have you tried waxworms? Do you have a picture of her?

she eats crickets that r very well fed. and i sprinkle the vitamin stuff on them before i feed her. i only sprinkle the vitamin stuff one a week though. could that be it?

Tomek, I didnt realize English was not your first language but that not what I was commenting about... Your English is just fine and I can understand what you write... Anyway WTH means What The Heck... And what I was commenting on was the fact that you automatically thought it was crypto... It could be 100 other things that are more common... Telling her to run to a vet to check for crypto right of the bat is a bit overkill...
