How many toes did yours lose? Mostly, geckos lose only their toe TIPS, not the whole toe due to bad shedding. Your gecko will still be able to walk normally, only climbing on rock walls might be a bit more difficult, since he/she might slide down and not catch good hold without claws. Otherwise, it won't be much impaired.
If you notice your gecko has shedding issues, use a wet q-tip to get stuck shed off the toes, or let your gecko walk on wet, warm paper towel in a tub for a while. Sometimes, you can prevent toe loss this way if it's not too late yet. The stuck shed cuts off the blood circulation, and when you see a gecko's toe get bloody or dark, it's usually a sign that this has happened.
It's not a huge issue to worry about. Higher humidity is helpful here. And a good moist hide.
I just had a little Enigma baby that lost one toe tip last week, although I used a wet q-tip. Enigmas that are too "wobbly" to get off their shed correctly are especially vulnerable to this issue. When you buy a new gecko, always look at the toes ;-) Shortened toes can be a sign of bad husbandry of the former owner, or of a shedding problem of the gecko. It's nothing sincere, but it can be avoided. Some geckos simply seem to have that shedding issue and require extra help. I have one of those, an adult Enigma het Rainwater. She came to me with at least three shortened toes, and I monitor her. I have a high humidity where I live, so I think she's gotten better, but I'll make sure she's not losing another toe tip. I can see her fall down the cage background (rock wall) occasionally because she cannot get a good grip on it. Otherwise, she's one of my prettiest girls :main_yes:
