I'm swamped with work and lacking all motivation, not a good combo. My Xbox 360 crapped out on me last week and I finally got the box to ship it back. I'll be on my 3rd Xbox soon, ugh. Yeah, don't even ask how this happened but the Xbox almost got lost in the mail. I was so lucky to be able to get it back from the claims office and reship it. There's nothing like the feeling of knowing your $400 console could be anywhere. The warranty wont cover that. My car was involved in a hit and run back in December. Someone scratched up my car and took my mirror off and didn't leave a note, always nice. Well we found the person who did it and I'll just put this the nicest way possible and say this woman is a "handful." Well, everything has finally been organized and I've been on the phone with the police and my insurance all week. I just know that I'm going to have to go to court over this this. I don't mind going one bit, I just don't want to deal with this woman, like I said she's a handful.
The icing on the cake was last night, well today technically. At 12am we were having some really heavy rain. There was a chance for a thunderstorm, but we didn't hear anything all night. A few minutes after 12, BANG, our power goes out. The first thing we think of is the incubator, I'm 100% convinced we're cursed in this hobby. Anyways, the temp was slowly dropping, so we filled a big plastic container with hot water and that helped. Meanwhile we start to hear police sirens coming up the main road near our house. Then we hear firetrucks, so we looked out our back windows. All of them are about a football field away. We decided to bundle up and run outside to see what was going on. When we get there our feet were soaked from the rivers of water since it was pouring so much. We saw a power/telephone pole snapped in half rather high up. We're thinking it was some freak lightening because it wasn't windy enough for a tree to get thrown into it. So now we're both like FANTASTIC, who knows when will get our power back and we need to watch this incubator. Well we got back and the temps were still okay, and we kept checking every 15 min. We were incubating for females at 82. When it was at its hottest with the water jug in there it was almost 84, and after 1 h 45 min it was down to 77-78. At this point Val needed to take off, so I told her I'd get up every 1 h 45 min -2 h to redo the water. So, I woke up ever 1 h 45 min or so to redo the water until 7:30am ish when the power finally came back on.
I really hope the eggs are okay, I did my best with them. I'm really glad it wasn't spiking too high or too low, I know any fluctuations are never good. The last thing I need right now is to loose these eggs. I guess only time will tell now.
In short, nothings really going right for Val or I this week. I still have a mountain of work to finish up by Monday. I just hope I can keep sane and get everything done and maybe find some hatchlings to end the week on a high note. We got our first eggs on 1-9-07, so at 82, I'm sure they're getting close to hatching. They're really big.
Anyways, thanks for listening to my rant.
