I've just spent great deal of time researching 'Enigma Syndrome' and have come to the conclusion my poor Ingrid has the worst case of it (a 5 on the TESS scale). She wasn't eating, because she can't :( I'm going to have to hand feed her. She can't even get to her water without assistance. A lot of what I read leans towards euthanasia, however, little Ingrid is SO sweet and SO friendly. She circles a lot when she's happy, and then she'll just curl up and take a rest on you.
I'm use to doing the whole 'animal rescue' thing, rehabilitating sick animals etc, so I don't mind taking care of her, but I was wondering if anyone had any great pointers/ideas to help Ingrid's life be the best it can be. I have most certainly fallen in love with this sweet girl. Now I know why she was so inexpensive :( poor baby :(

From what I read they spin when stressed. I've never heard anything about spinning when "happy" but then again I could not tell you when a gecko is acting happy.
If you are giong to keep her I would look into ways to keep her stress an low as possible. In some cases this can help. Minimal handling, no bright lights, no loud noises, and keep her in a low traffic area of your house. Im sure there is more things you can do but this is just off the top of my head.

The only time she isn't schitzing out is when I'm holding her. She appears to love to be held. I've only had her for a week, so I'm unsure of *exactly* how she is just yet. I know that she needs to be hand fed, because she doesn't appear to be coordinataed enough to eat. She also seems to have issues with drinking :( She needs help to do everything. She hasn't pooped yet, though. I'm slightly concerned about that, HOWEVER, I did JUST get her to eat yesterday!!!! She remonds me of a person with down syndrome. She looks animatrontic when she moves. It's quite interesting.

It can take them a week or more to get comfortable with there new suroundings. In that time period they may not eat or poop because they are in an unfirmiliar place. IMO you should keep handling to an absolute minimum for at least a couple weeks. As far as feeding Im not sure what food items you are offering but I would recommend mealworms in a large dish. When you try and feed her you can try and lead her to the dish with mealworms until she realizes there is food in the dish. For the drinking part, as long as you provide a humid hide with say damp paper towels in it she can drink off of those if needed. Leopard geckos don't drink nearly as often as some other animals.
