Welcome to GF~ Your geckos are adorable.

I too agree about the sand.. However, like a few said.. It is ultimately your decision.
We just want what's best for the health of your leos. =)
Leopard geckos will lick at the sand to take in calcium.. Especially if they do not have the supplements available to them. You may not see it happen, but it does. Also, when feeding crickets, they can chomp sand along with the crickets.. Or any feeder for that matter (If they are fed on the sand).

Please do not take it as condescending. Sure, our opinions are strong and may come off as very harsh but we do not mean it as such.
We are a group of people dedicated to the love and well-being of leopard geckos.

That being said, all I ask of you is do read a little bit on sand impaction.
Feel free to send me a PM if you need some good websites. =) I have a few bookmarked on my computer. =)

thank you for the comments i'm open to suggestions, i just dont appreciate being compared to "beating a dead horse" or people trying to make me sound stupid, when i have done research. there are sand dunes in southeast pakistan, in the Thar desert and here is a picture
sand.jpg

When i bought my substrate i looked up where their natural habitat was, and it said the deserts in Pakistan.... my bad.... just trying to make them feel as natural as possible, also i never feed them in the cage because i was scared of them eating the sand... so i dont think that im too irresponsible

I just don't think looks should be as important to health. Personally. I switched my gecko off of sand the second I heard it was potentially bad for her.
Repti-carpet looks pretty good, and it's healthier. Also, personally I personally think sand is a total rip-off.

Repti-carpet, tiles and even paper towels are the better choices if you want healthy and happy geckos.

That said, your geckos are gorgeous.

hey Evan don't worry bout it, i have kept mine on sand for around a year and had no problems at all. however i rotate the substrates and test others out like aspen and wood chips which so far I have had no problems with and they look cool too! :)
ignore what others have said about the sand as i have in previous threads. what you choose to keep your geckos on is your choice whether it be for looks or health, i know that has been said before but hey.lol!
hope this was encouraging dude!

I like the look of sand in the cages but I know its not the best choice so I built this. I have made a few changes since the pictures were taken. I have painted it to make it look like sand and I have filled in all the gaps. I looks just like sand. It is made out of concrete and styrofoam then painted and sealed.
