In a Galaxy far, far away...
I got my leopard gecko, Joey, a little more than a month ago (in Nov.). His personality was always calm, and a little shy, but he was tamed easily. Soon I was picking him up every day or every other day.

Then, he shed. This was maybe his second or third shed. After he shed, I picked him up. The day after, I tried to pick him up after hand feeding him and he didn't want to, and even waved his tail. When I was putting the lid to his cage on, he totally freaked out and ran really fast to the other side of his cage. He looked really scared. I decided to leave him alone but keep a close eye on him.

The day after that, he didn't feel like eating. That was okay, since he doesn't eat everyday sometimes. I put my hand in front of him and, once again, he began to wave his tail. Keep in mind there was alot of...screaming...in my house at that time, so I wass stressed and he could have been too.

Today I tried to hold him again. After I fed him, I put my hand out again. This time, he cautiousley crawled onto my hand. (there was no screaming this time). He looked like he wanted to get passed my hand, and I didn't really want to stress him out, I just wanted him to know that I'm okay and his friend. So I moved my thumb underneath him so he could get through...and he freaked out and ran away really quickly. I was surprised and my hand shot out of the tank...

Do you have any tips on how to tame him again? Does anyone know what's going on?

You might have to sort of start over again with taming. Something has got him spooked, maybe a lot of holiday goings on disturbed him. Any chance someone may have tried to mess with him that you don't know about? He'll be okay tho, once a bit of time has passed and he gets secure again with you, the almighty bringer of food :)

I agree. My girl is usually very easy to handle, but whenever there is anyone else in my room when I handle her she is easily spooked. Whenever I have a gathering for the holidays, she is very hard to handle and never eats. She will be on edge all day until hours after everyone leaves, it's just too much noise. So you should be ok, just be patient. Good luck :)
