I got my leopard gecko, Joey, a little more than a month ago (in Nov.). His personality was always calm, and a little shy, but he was tamed easily. Soon I was picking him up every day or every other day.
Then, he shed. This was maybe his second or third shed. After he shed, I picked him up. The day after, I tried to pick him up after hand feeding him and he didn't want to, and even waved his tail. When I was putting the lid to his cage on, he totally freaked out and ran really fast to the other side of his cage. He looked really scared. I decided to leave him alone but keep a close eye on him.
The day after that, he didn't feel like eating. That was okay, since he doesn't eat everyday sometimes. I put my hand in front of him and, once again, he began to wave his tail. Keep in mind there was alot of...screaming...in my house at that time, so I wass stressed and he could have been too.
Today I tried to hold him again. After I fed him, I put my hand out again. This time, he cautiousley crawled onto my hand. (there was no screaming this time). He looked like he wanted to get passed my hand, and I didn't really want to stress him out, I just wanted him to know that I'm okay and his friend. So I moved my thumb underneath him so he could get through...and he freaked out and ran away really quickly. I was surprised and my hand shot out of the tank...
Do you have any tips on how to tame him again? Does anyone know what's going on?
