I'm thinking about getting a crested for my birthday in about a month but I don't even know where to start

I have 2 leos and 2 on the way. So I know leos but I know nothing about any other reptile.

There is a crested at my work right now, it's just a brown dalmation, I absoulutly love, because it looks like a cookie, I could just eat him/her up!!

She is $64 is this a good price?

Also I was reading through old posts and saw that a 20 gallon is minimum
correct, no 10 gallon, not even if it was set on it's side?

Lids?
heating?
Hides?
Moist hides?
Substrate?
Feeding? How much?
Water?
Humidity? and how do you keep it humid just mist it all down?

You should start by looking online for care sheets and read everything you can find online about cresteds. A 10 gal. is OK for a juvie or two or even a single adult if need be but it is better to have something bigger like a 20 gal. Something else you can use for housing is a plastic storage box most breeders use them because they are cheap and easy to clean. You can get a good size box for $5 to $10 and just drill some holes in the lid. You should have alot of thing for them to climb on and fake vines and plants for them to hide in. For substrate paper towels are cheap easy to clean and hold humidity and it is also one of the safest substrates you can use. Misting the cage twice a day will keep the humidity high enough for the gecko. Cresteds don't normally need an outside heat source if where you are keeping them is between 70 and 80 degrees. Cresteds do OK if it gets as low as 65 just don't let them get much cooler than that. Crested gecko diet is the best thing to feed them and it last along time if you only have a few geckos. I feed mine CGD twice a week and leave it in the cage for 2 days before taking it out. I also feed mine dusted crickets once or twice a week. Make sure the crickets are not too big. The cricket should be no longer than the geckos head is wide. I also keep a bowl of fresh water in with the geckos. Hope this answers most of your questions.:main_thumbsup:

Is it a boy or girl. Depending on everything and if you have a local reptile show. 64 is a great price you don't have to pay shipping. I keep our babies in small containers. And then the adults get kept in a 12x12x18 exo terra tank. I have picked most of mine up on craigslist for a great price. They don't require much of any heat. Anything below 80 is perfect anything about 80 isn't too good for them. Look threw here and you will find picture of different set ups. They feed on crested gecko diet. You can order a huge bag that will last you forever from pangea. He is a geat guy. We mist them every few days. As I said you will find alot on here. And alot more poeple will answer all your questions. or if you enjoy reading my boyfriend read two books before we bought one. And now we have 24 of them!
