I know in-breeding is bad and produces star gazers, tail kinks, etc. But is there ANY time where it is acceptable? Or a must to produce certain morphs? Also is there a point in time when a related gecko is related to another gecko but one was made a long time ago making it safe? for ex. a 10 year old great great great grand father of a gecko? would it be safe then?
My guess to the answers I receive will be In breeding is bad no matter what. But i am just wondering
Im guessing the best way to prevent this is to assign a color to a family of geckos and never EVER breed two geckos together of the same color? ![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
Also, in Ron Tremper's book "Leopard Geckos, the Next Generations" He mentions a breeding plan, of 1 male to 20 females and the next year get another male and use both of the males to breed to the babies. BUT ISNT THAT IN BREEDING? If you have the book (You probably will) it is on page 61. and 62.
Thanks a lot! ^_^
