Okay so we adopted a 2 yr old female yesterday and the first thing we noticed was how bad the skin on her toes is. We've been bathing her feet in warm water, trying to find flaps with tweezers, using cotton wool buds to try and loosen it but nothing's working. It is so thick and tight that at least one of the toes looks like its dead. It's on 5 of her toes so it's no easy task trying to get it off, and it seems to be causing her some irritation when she walks as she often twitches and shakes her feet.

Any more techniques to get rid of this skin? God knows how long its been there, the poor thing, but we want to get rid of it ASAP.

You could also make her a sauna: make a wet, warm plastic container with wet paper towels (and a lid) and see if you can have her stand in it for awhile. Keep trying to get little bits of the shed off and you should succeed ultimately.

I just adopted one with bad shed on the toes as well. She had never had a humid hide so I set one up for her. She managed to get all the shed off herself within a couple of days before I tried for her. She spent most of the two days in the humid hide and was completely docile the next time I held her. She was cukoo when we first got her so it was really cute. Like she was saying THANK YOU for rescuing me from those clueless people.

Good luck!
