Incomplete Shed?

My baby Gecko has had his first shed since we got him although not all of the skin has come off. She/he shed about a week ago and all toes etc are fine but he has some shed left around his neck like a collar? The skin is not tight around the neck, but it doesn't seem to be coming off.

The gecko has a moist hide which he seems to like sitting in during the evening, but he is a bit nervous of being held at the moment.

Any suggestions?

You need to get that off. You should help them after 24 hours of having trouble with it. That probably won't be too difficult to get off if it is like a loose collar. Try putting him in a small ocntainer so he cant run too far, but high enough he cant get out. Try to calm him down and much as you can and get it off.

You may have to gently restrain him to get it off, it should come right off but the only way your going to be able to gently peel it off is to gently restrain him. Its not likely he is going to sit still and allow you to get it off.

If you wet the end of a qtip, you may be able to moisten the skin so it comes off easier...

Just a thought...it has worked for me in the past. <grin>

looks like...

had the same prob's...ye need more moisture in that hide!...use a luke warm water mist spray on the Gecko once or twice a week!... my adult luv's it :main_yes:
