I usually use tupperware type containers that I can fit 8-10 eggs in, but I was thinking about using those clear plastic containers that baby food comes in (a rectangular shape) so I could keep 1 clutch in each container. Has anyone ever done this or does anyone have any reason why this isn't a good idea?

Being that I won't be cooking a ton of eggs this season, I've been incubating each clutch separately in containers much like the ones you described. They are the same containers I give my babies to use as moist hides, and have thus far worked just fine. I'm not positive how big the baby food ones are, but the ones I've been using are probably square 4x4 containers.

HMMM i dont see why not, i guess i've been doign it wrong hehe, i've got those small sandwich containers from ziploc and i only hve 2 eggs in there at the momen, i guess as long as i can keep eggs seperated as to which f, lays what i can keep a whole "litter" in the same one, that's ok? you can put more than 2 eggs in there? i hope so i was worryign my hovabator wouldn't have room for many containers lol.

These are what i use. 9 of them fit in the hovabator just perfect, and i'm putting up to 6 eggs in each, so far it the best way i've found to fit the most eggs in the hovy:D

The only thing I could thing of that would turn me off of the 2" x 1" ones is will there be enough room in there for medium, 2 eggs and the for the babies to hatch out?
<----- by no means an expert, thats just what came to mind when I was thinking about them

Aliza, I know what baby food you're talking about. We feed that brand to our crestie. The only thing I would worry about is that the substrate you're using to incubate with would dry out too fast.
