I incubated my males at 88-89 ( about 37 days) and my females 83 ( about 66 days). I think that if you incubate 85-87 you get a mix.

Yep. For example, I incubate at 84 degrees with a +/- 1 degree variance. I'm hoping for a predominantly female mix. Say 80% to 20% or 90% to 10% female to male ratio. ;)

A safe range is between 80 and 90 degrees.

Don't worry. I'm not breeding them quite yet, I just want to gather information for when i do breed them. Also those are both females. I have to buy a male in a couple of months to breed.

-good to hear, I was worried you had a pair in the same cage.

I have to buy a male in a couple of months to breed.
It will be a year + before they can breed.

Also, I noticed you've been asking lots of questions on here. That's grgeat, beacuse we love helping you out, I'm just gonna suggest using the search feature to help you find the answers to some of the more commonly asked questions like this one. I suggest also reeding up on some more care/breeding sheets online. I know Marcia (Golden Gate Geckos) has a great one on her website. You are certainly wise to gather info before breeding... I just want to warn you, do NOT rush into it, Ken and I are just trying to help you out. It WILL be detrimental to your leos health if you breed before they are adults (50-55g and usually 8-10 inches).

I have a question, if I want to incubate for females it has to be in the lower 80's but this temp is inside the containers wherethe eggs are or is the ambient temp of the incubator??

Thanks

I go by the temperature in the incubator; my probe is on top of one of the incubation containers. I would probably avoid incubating at the upper range of the females only temp in case it's a bit higher inside the containers. I also incubate for female. Until this year I was keeping the incubator at 80 for that reason. I decided to raise it to 82 to have a slightly shorter incubation period and also to avoid fluctuations that get too low. So far I have hatched all females except for one banded gecko who appears male, but I think the temp. sexing for bandeds is a bit narrower than for leos.
