Ok well I finally got around to wrapping this thing up....here goes....... I have put in the heat tape and put in the Helix thermo..... andnow ready for the faceplate

And here is the face plate:

Now back inside installing the face plate, this is what it lookedlike onceit was on. It was glue and siliconed.

Next was making the door.I wanted it to matchand wanted a open glass door.

To hang the door I use two three inch narrow hinges and to hold it closed I used latches both of which I painted black thought it looked better.

Also since it is 4 foot tall I figured that I would need to install a fan to keep the temps thesame top and bottom just as I done on my other one. Thisis the one I used.

The door was routered on each side and theglass was doubled kindalike a storm window, seemd it helps hold the temps better. Finished up by ironing on the melamine egde tape to give it a finished look. Anyways here is the finished product!!!

Depends....Helix and heat tape excluded: roughly, 150.00 - 160.00. Then another 110.00 for Helix and few bucks for the heat tape. I just love building and making things.

Great job:main_thumbsup: I have a question about the fan. If you wouldn't installed the fan the temps would go too high at the top of incubator, right? The reason I ask is I have finished my incubator (it has two shelfs, it's 60 cm high), and I didn't have time to test it. I wonder if I would need to use a fan...

I use a fan in both my incubators, my other one I built is one 36 inches tall and I use a fan. If not it seems the temps get higher at the top. Not a huge difference but I want to be sure what my temps are. I use one for male and one for female. Post a pic of the cooker. I like seeing what other people use as well.

Nice job!!!

Thomas,

That is almost exactly what I had in mind (for design etc.) for the one I plan on building soon. I was going to build it in more of a horizontal orientation to help reduce the effects of the heat rising incase the fan dies. The two things I didn't have figured out were the door design and a way to make the interior look decent by covering up the insulation. That showerboard material does the job well!

Again, nice job and keep that thing full of eggs!

Yeah Chris,
One thing is for sure, melamine is heavy. If you look at thebottom we knew it would be so we had went to Lowes and purchased a dolly that fits it perfectly. So it is easily moviable.
Paul....lol.....Yeah Ill ship ya one....oh you pay shipping ....hehehehe
